Departure from Fes at 8.30 a.m, passing via Ifrane, where the homes have outstanding and uncommon sloping roofs for Morocco.

This is to accommodate the annual snowfall. In the oak and cedar woods of the Middle Atlas, you may see Barbary apes near Azrou, whose geomorphological Berber word means "stone" or "rock." If you so want, you may stop here for a stroll. From here, we go south on the N13 across the Middle Atlas, passing via Timahdite (once again a feminine Berber name, since the word starts and finishes with the letter "t").

We approach Midelt, 1508M, the "apple capital" of Morocco, which is located at the base of the Ayachi Mountain. The city serves as the commercial agricultural hub for the surrounding region and is also one of Morocco's most important mining centers for fluorite, vanadinite, quartz, and cerussite. The night is spent at a bed and breakfast.

After breakfast, we head south via the Tizi-n-Talghemt pass, also known as "the she-camel pass." We descend into the Ziz Valley, which is renowned for its palm palms and the expanse of its oasis. Along the route are many "ksars," or little towns with individual residences.

From here, we visit the copper and malachite mining town of Er Rachidia, followed by Erfoud, renowned for its date festival and fossils. It is amazing to observe how millions of fossils have been transformed into items, thus it is worthwhile to explore the stores. There is no compulsion to purchase anything! You proceed to Rissani and then to Merzouga's famed red Erg Chebbi dunes.

A one-hour to one-and-a-half-hour camel ride is required to either leave or arrive at the camp. There is also the option of using the four-wheel drive to the camp.

Alternately, you may choose a luxury tent with a private toilet, king-sized mattresses, exquisite Moroccan furniture, and artistically set lighting to enhance your enjoyment of the dunes' tranquility and beauty.

If you awake early enough, you may see the grandeur of the dawn, when the hue of the sand dunes and the interplay of shadows is awe-inspiring. After breakfast in camp, we go for Tinghir and the Toudgha gorges.

On the route, you pass the water canals – "khettarat" – that you may descend inside to admire the design and brilliance behind this method of irrigation that avoids evaporation in the summer heat.

The channels begin with a steeper gradient at one end and finish at the soil's surface, where they are distributed to the fields.

Andrew Wilson's writings provide further information regarding these pathways. In the gorge and the valley, it is possible to stroll beyond the gorge itself or via the village gardens and fields before reaching it. The journey continues to the Dades Valley later on.

Millions of years ago, the region that currently comprises the Dades Gorges was submerged in the ocean. Large amounts of silt were accumulated over enormous coral reefs, and over time, this sediment was compressed into a variety of sedimentary rocks, including sandstone and limestone.

The movement of the earth's crust eventually forced the area to rise above the sea, generating the Atlas Mountains and the surrounding environment. In a hotel or kasbah, the night is spent.

After breakfast, we will visit the Dades Gorges and have a brief stroll there. Back in the vehicle, the journey to Ouarzazate continues off-road through the Boutarar slope to see Berber nomads in their caves and have tea with them.

This tour demonstrates to the visitor how difficult life is for these nomads in this very arid environment, attempting to feed their goats and raise their children.

From here, we will proceed through the Valley of the Roses, which is renowned for its May Rose Festival. The nation as a whole produces and values cosmetics and toiletries.

In Skoura and the surrounding oasis, the Kasbah Amredhil awaits your arrival.

The nicely maintained kasbah provides a realistic picture of life in such quarters. It is constructed completely of adobe, a good construction material; the thick walls keep it warm in winter and cool in summer. You arrive in Ouarzazate 45 minutes later, where you spend the night at a guesthouse.

After breakfast, the journey continues to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco's seven World Heritage sites and the setting for several Hollywood films.

It is the most well-known Kasbah in Morocco, and some of the structures date to the 17th century. From here, you travel down the gorgeous and awe-inspiring Ounila Valley, which is full of winding roads, unexpected colors in the rock and soil, Berber settlements and gardens, and smaller Kasbahs.

We proceed to Telouet, which was formerly the seat of the last Pasha of Marrakech, El Glaoui, and the location from which the highest pass in Africa, Tizi-n-Tichka, was controlled.

After Thami El Glaoui departed the nation after the withdrawal of the French in 1956, each of the building's additions today lies in ruins, exposed to the wind and weather, having been abandoned and pillaged. As you approach the furthest end of the Kasbah, you will be pleasantly astonished by the classic interior design. After crossing the Tichka pass in the late afternoon, we arrive in Marrakech.
